Istanbul, 12 August 2025 – Türkiye’s e-commerce sector has rapidly evolved into one of the most dynamic engines of economic growth, creating new opportunities for trade between Europe and the Arab world.
In just five years, Türkiye’s online market has expanded from a modest 0.14 trillion Turkish lira in 2019 to over 3 trillion lira in 2024, achieving an impressive 62% growth in the past year alone. Today, e-commerce accounts for around 6.5% of Türkiye’s GDP—more than double its share in 2019—and is now in line with leading economies where digital trade represents between 5% and 16% of GDP.
This extraordinary growth reflects the country’s unique position as a commercial bridge between Europe and the Arab region. The rise of digital trade platforms is opening doors for faster market entry, broader consumer reach, and more efficient cross-border transactions. Key growth sectors include fashion, professional services, and emerging categories such as food delivery, digital content, and hobby-related products, all of which are reshaping consumer behavior.
For Euro-Arab trade partners, Türkiye’s thriving e-commerce sector offers a strategic gateway. European businesses can use Türkiye as a launchpad to tap into fast-growing Arab markets, while Arab enterprises can benefit from Türkiye’s advanced logistics systems and modern payment solutions to reach European customers with greater speed and reliability.
With a young, tech-savvy population and strong regional connectivity, Türkiye’s e-commerce boom is set to become a driving force in enhancing Euro-Arab trade relations for years to come.
